C1, C2, C3 (Completion of the works at Valli di Comacchio and creation of new islets)

Photogallery
Within the Valli di Comacchio fish farms a series of channels was dredged, to improve water circulation of the two main basins. Dredged material was then used to create or restore suitable nesting sites for target bird species.

In order to improve the management of water regimes within the fish farms, two gates for regulating water flows to and from the basins (Chiavica Caldirolo and Chiavica Leonarda) were reclaimed.

Within the North-West basin, Valle Zavelea, the maintenance of the two siphons for water loading and dumping was carried out, to enhance water circulation.

Thanks to financial and time availability, the outlet of the Gobbino channel, which is located within the adjacent SAC-SPA "IT4060003 - Vene di Bellocchio", was dredged. Such channel connects Comacchio fish farms with the Adriatic Sea, thus allowing the salt water to enter the farms.

C4 (Completion of the works at Valle Bagliona and Valle Cà Pisani)

Photogallery
At Valle Bagliona, the channel allowing internal freshwater circulation was dredged, and some maintenance works at the gate were carried out in order to improve water circulation and reduce salinity in the fish farm. Moreover, a series of renovation works was performed concerning the cutting, disassembling, casing creation and restoration of a water pipe.

Photogallery
At Cà Pisani two water flow control devices (traghetti) were dismantled and rebuilt. A channel was also dredged, and the material produced was used to create some nesting islets.

C5 (Completion of the works at Sacca di Scardovari)

Photogallery
At Sacca di Scardovari some channel sections were dredged. The removed material was then used to restore the mouth bar and create a new nesting islet.

C6 (Restoration and creation of new ponds for amphibians at Bosco Nordio, and restricted works at Bosco Nordio and Cà Mello)

Photogallery
Within the Bosco Nordio strict nature reserve, a series of new ponds suitable for the reproduction of amphibians was created. The removed earth material was then arranged to protect the area from the adjacent road.

At Cà Mello some ponds were created to allow the reproduction of amphibian species.

Furthermore, within both the sites, a series of works aiming at increasing the population of the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) was carried out. Such works involved the rearrangement of the pond shores to reduce their steepness, and the placement of natural structures allowing access to and exit from the water, such as islets and emerging branches.

C7 (Restoration and creation of new nesting sites for bird species at Cà Mello)

Photogallery
New nesting sites were created at Valle Cà Mello to allow the reproduction of target bird species. Water lily-dominated habitats were restored, and artificial floating wooden structures for the reproduction of terns (subfamily Sterninae) were installed and attached to the substratum. Vertical cliffs were erected in order to allow kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) to nest.
